    • Structure Powerful Paragraphs: We demonstrate how paragraph breaks and internal structure change how a story reads.

    • Leverage the Art of the Sentence: We show you how to identify the most important sentences in your piece and polish them to make both the sentences and the piece as a whole stand out.

how each workshop module is designed

Each module combines an interactive video lesson, in-class workshops, and independent iteration to impart a single valuable skill:

  • A pre-work assignment, often generating a rough first draft using a template

  • A live session, focused on collaboratively critiquing student work examples—identifying what is strong and what could be improved to elevate important concepts and improve student judgement

  • An assignment for students to independently iterate on their draft, using what they learned in the live session

  • A peer group meeting where students give and receive feedback on their drafts

  • An assignment for students to independently iterate on their draft, incorporating peer feedback

  • A live extension session to collaboratively critique more student work and introduce a concept or two to take the topic further
